The goal of my research is to see if the current math curriculum is aligned properly according to local and state standards for the curriculum. If not, I will continue to research the curriculum and gathering data to align it properly.

Activities that I will actively engage in to achieve the goals are as follows:
Research the current state and local objectives for 8th and 9th grade math courses
Research the TAKS results from the past 3 years and look for objectives that are weaker
Research teacher lesson plans for this year and the past 3 years to see if the objectives are being covered
Research the data and see if there are any gaps in the alignment of the curriculum.

Resources and research tools that are needed for data gathering:
Computer for state TEKS requirements and online data
Access to teachers lesson plans from the past 3 years
Chapter 111. Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Mathematics Subchapter B. Middle school
Chapter 111. Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Mathematics Subchapter C. High School
Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills - Confidential Campus Roster reports for Mathematics

Timeline for research :
Current state TEKS and objectives – 10/15/10
TAKS results from past 3 years – 12/30/10
Teacher lesson plans from past 3 years – 12/30/10
Check for gaps in alignment –6/1/11
